At CIS, we value the connections we have with one another as a school community, as well as those we cultivate locally, regionally and globally. We’re committed to promoting conversations about positive change, but more importantly we believe in taking action.
Service and leadership
The two arms of service at CIS are: local service, where students connect with members of the Singapore community; and global service, where they work with regional NGOs and partner organisations, actively addressing the issues they care about.
Our students, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, are provided with meaningful opportunities to engage in service and to practise leadership skills, as a preparation for life beyond CIS. Through classroom investigations, community partnerships, and other service and leadership opportunities, they actively seek ways to contribute and give back. This approach fosters empathy as students develop an understanding of the challenges the world’s people and environments face.
Service activities vary in terms of time commitment. They can be one-time events, year-long or multi-year commitments. Students across the school are often involved in leading activities that focus on improving some aspects of school life, or in raising awareness of issues facing the community. In Secondary School, students must satisfy the IB Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) requirements to complete their courses.
